Training Director

Steve is a retired State of Florida law enforcement officer with:

  • 14+ years of service,
  • 8 years as a Lieutenant of field operations and training,
  • 25+ years of teaching experience,
  • 10+ years experience as a Lead Instructor for Florida’s State Police Academy, and
  • he has led officers and first responders on numerous successful search and rescue operations, including Hurricane Katrina and several fugitive apprehensions in the state of Florida.

 

He has designed and implemented highly specialized courses and programs in:

  • firearms,
  • defensive tactics,
  • high risk vehicle and vessel stops, and
  • has supervised and trained the Florida Special Operations Group (SOG), an integral part of Florida’s homeland security initiative.

 

Steve is the founder of the innovative and highly successful Interactive Reality Based Training model (IRBT) with well over 1,000 successful applications in law enforcement and the civilian environment and has developed leadership and training programs for local and national businesses including hospitals, the City of Tallahassee, the Florida Public Safety Institute (FPSI) and many more.  He has taught crisis prevention/intervention and self-defense for over 25 years.  Steve continues his passion for law enforcement as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff and owns and operates a martial arts business in Tallahassee, Florida.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and a Masters degree in Adult Education.
