The problem is, the standards are so low to become a cop, that what you have are people with a badge and gun who WANT to shoot other human beings. A good bit of those in law enforcement LOOK FORWARD to pulling that trigger at another human being.

The Missing Link in Police Reform: 911 Call-Takers | The Crime Report
The wrongful arrest of Harvard Prof. Henry Louis Gates in 2009 started with a 911 call-taker who exaggerated the original complaint. Training on how to distinguish between high-risk and low-risk calls...There are not a lot of comments on these posts. So I will add one that most dispatchers do not want or want to acknowledge. Any new 911 dispatch system and SOPs have to address the equipment used by 911 dispatch. 1. Remove edit-on-the-fly capabilies. 2. Remove post-edit capabilities. 3. Remove the ability to save dispatch recordings to unrecoverable formats. 4. Remove the use of personal and disposable cell phones. 5. Record all conversations at the scene. All conversations by LE and others using the system are potentially exculpatory. 27/30.5 minutes of MY dispatch tape was erased and saved to a unrecoverable format. State of NH vs Stuart Urie -Stuart If you want real reform and effective change, you must embrace these things. Otherwise it is all just talk and window dressing.

Massachusetts Governor proposes bonuses for officers who participate in de-escalation training
The bill is aimed at creating more accountability and transparency in police departments across the stateDE-ESCALATE's Executive Director, Jeff Golden, and Dr. Lisa Rapp-McCall, Professor of Social Work at Saint Leo University in Florida, have taught a joint law enforcement / social worker seminar (2018 and 2020) on how these two professions can work together more effectively. It is no surprise that human service professionals have significantly more training in de-escalation techniques that most law enforcement officers and combining the two professionals brings exceptional skills to bear on the most troubling of encounters. Drs. Punches, broken bones and more: 1 in 4 nurses are attacked on the job, study says
Federal reports show at least 58 hospital workers died from workplace violence between 2011 and 2016.We have been raising this question for years in our classes. Why is 18 the age of adulthood if the brain can take 30 years to mature?
Neuroscience research suggests it might be time to rethink our ideas about when exactly a child becomes an adult.
Sadly, these researchers have repeatedly warned departments that their poor policies and training were going to get them into trouble...yet few listen. "Investigators attributed officers’unlawful stop, search, and arrest practices to (1) key departmental policies and (2) glaring deficiencies in training and oversight. The report associated the widespread use of aggressive tactics with crime-control policies that incentivized officers but also damaged police-community relations. Officers appeared disposed to use force rather than employing de-escalation techniques, including with mentally ill persons."
